About The Football League

Formed in 1888 by its twelve founder members, The Football League is the world’s original league football competition and is the template for leagues the world over. With 72 member clubs, it is also the largest single body of professional clubs in European football and is responsible for administering and regulating the npower Football League, Capital One Cup and Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, as well as reserve and youth football.

The Football League encourages all parts of the community to enjoy league football by watching matches or taking part in other activities through our member clubs and they also generate the commercial revenue that sustains and fuels football’s growth.

The English Football League asked Spark to commission a new Football League anthem that could be used for the official Football League trailer, for TV broadcast, online, internal videos/presentations, by the official sponsors and even on match days in the stadiums.

Besides matching the creative brief and being ideal for use with football footage, it was essential for the Football League that the music was a complete buyout and could be used without any further royalty or copyright payments in perpetuity.

After listening to submissions from composers in various countries, the Football League opted to work with a composer team from Hamburg, Germany. A full length track version was created as well as several edits.
