About Sky

Sky is the leading pay-TV service in Germany and Austria with approximately 3.5 million subscribers. Since the launch of the Sky brand in July 2009, the company has significantly expanded the depth and breadth of its programme offering, launched many innovations and enhanced its customer service. The results can be seen in the company’s strong performance, with continuous operational and financial progress, as well as improvements in viewer ratings, value-for-money scores, customer recommendations and, most importantly, high satisfaction levels.

Spark carried out a music search on behalf of Serviceplan Campaign 1 and Sky Germany to find the perfect song for Sky’s most emotional brand positioning campaign yet.

In the 90 second online and cinema ad entitled ‘button’ the viewer can see a little boy on his quest to find a button for his beloved teddy bear.

The ad doesn’t make any reference to Christmas but fits the time of year where the days are short, the weather rainy and cold and watching TV with the entire family in a cosy home is a lovely thing to do.

The song that Spark found is special in many different way. The song is a slowed down cover version of the Beatles hit ‘From Me To You’. It’s sung by 19 year old singer and songwriter Jess Thristan from England and had been previously unreleased. Using a Beatles composition in advertising doesn’t happen very often, but the quality of the recording with a real orchestra and and emotional interpretation by Jess Thristan and the high quality of the ad made all the difference to securing the necessary approvals.

Spark also negotiated the agreement and fees of the Jess Thristan recording on behalf of Sky & Neverest.
