T.G.I. Friday’s kicked off their celebration of 25 years in the UK in a way only TGI Friday’s could: by setting a new Guinness World Record for Most People Simultaneously Cocktail Flairing!
Over 100 world-class professional bartenders from T.G.I. Friday’s restaurants across the UK took part in this amazing feat. They set the record with a skilful routine of 101 people flairing in sync, without dropping a bottle, for over two minutes in London’s Covent Garden.
T.G.I. Friday’s popularised bar flair, which is all about creating entertainment and excitement around cocktail-making, and they are known for their world-class skills. It was, in fact, T.G.I. Friday’s bartenders who trained Tom Cruise to shake his stuff with amazing flair tricks that wowed everyone in the iconic film Cocktail. Spark negotiated and cleared the music publishing rights for an exclusive re-recording of “Hippy Hippy Shake” that was used as the background music for the world record attempt. The track was also famously used in the film ‘Cocktail’ starring Tom Cruise. The video has been used online, in particular in social media, on T.G.I. Friday’s website and for news broadcasts in all media.
