Every winter, homeless people in Germany are exposed to life-threatening temperatures. Also this winter too many people have already frozen to death on the streets unnecessarily. O2 has become the sponsor of a national hotline for ‘cold buses’ in all major German cities. These buses take homeless people into emergency accommodation from the November 1st, 2024 to March 31st, 2025. They have fixed routes but can all so be called out in some cities.
On 10. January the German artist Luvre47 released a song with the title of the hotline number 0800 800 1019. All proceeds from the song will be donated to the nationwide homeless and cold relief. Every stream counts.
Luvre47 managed to capture beautifully the issues that homeless people face: Imagine you’re invisible – people look through you and don’t pay attention to you. Unfortunately, many homeless people feel this way. Just stop next time, ask your homeless neighbours how they are doing and offer your help. Sometimes a warm coffee or just a nice conversation can make a huge difference.
An online video was also release to publicise the campaign and the hotline.
